Chapter 11 of our Halloween story :
The ancient clock stood tall, its hands crawling closer to midnight with each heavy tick that echoed through the mist. Shadows stretched long, as though the very land held its breath. Somewhere beyond the gate, a wolf howled—a deep, mournful cry that carried through the night like an omen. Above, bats swirled in restless flocks, and a lone crow circled the gate with measured patience, its caw splitting the silence.
The pumpkins glimmered faintly, their hues shifting as though touched by enchantment. Flowers, once still, quivered as if stirred by unseen winds. Every creature of the night seemed to sense it—the moment when the veil would thin, when secrets locked away would surge forth.
Lady Lilitha raised her eyes to the clock face, the skull above it grinning as though privy to truths yet to be told. The figure in violet robes lingered by the gate, unmoving, waiting.
And still the clock ticked on.
Tick… tick… tick…
The final stroke neared.
The world braced itself. For when midnight came, nothing would remain hidden.
