In Chapter 6 of our Halloween night story
On the edge of the crumbled courtyard, beneath the glow of a swollen full moon, a lone wolf stood among the ruins. Silver light spilled across the mossy stones, illuminating the ancient archway behind him.
His head tilted to the stars, and with a slow, deliberate breath, he released a haunting howl—long and deep, echoing across the hollow hills.
But this was no ordinary cry.
The sound shimmered with strange magic, sending ripples through the air. Nearby candles flickered wildly. Somewhere in the distance, a cauldron hissed. And high above, Ebonwing spiraled in silence.
Those who knew the old ways recognized the sign.
The Moonhowler had spoken—and only on nights like this, when shadows bend and whispers answer back, could his voice reach the realm where Maelor lingered.
As the final note of the howl faded into the stillness, the wind carried with it a whisper:
“Prepare the gate... he walks again.”
Was Maelor returning with purpose… or warning?
Only the wolf knew the truth—and he wasn’t howling for nothing.
