Description
Did you know:
- Blue Jays aren’t actually blue! Their feathers contain no blue pigment. The “blue” you see is created by light scattering through tiny structures in their feathers — if you crushed the feather, it would turn brown.
- They can imitate hawks perfectly. Sometimes they do it just to scare other birds away from food… a little feathered prankster move.
- Blue Jays are known to transport acorns long distances and bury them. Many forgotten acorns grow into new oak trees — meaning Blue Jays helped forests expand after the last Ice Age!
