Bring a little springtime into your Heritage Quilt Society collection with our beautiful Tulips Quilt Stamp.
Tulips have been a much-loved subject in American quiltmaking for generations. The Smithsonian has a Tulip quilt block dated 1840–1860, while another Smithsonian quilt made between 1850 and 1875 features twelve large appliquéd tulips with buds, stems and leaves.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art also holds a Tulip quilt dating to approximately 1850–1880, noting that many variations of the Tulip design appeared in nineteenth-century appliquéd quilts.
And the tradition continued into the 20th century. Quilt historian Carrie A. Hall documented numerous tulip designs, including Tulip, Colonial Tulip, Cottage Tulips, Tulip Garden and Full Blown Tulip.
Our embroidered interpretation brings two elegant tulips together in a soft, patchwork-inspired block — a little celebration of flowers, spring and the wonderful variety found in quilt history.
A timeless flower, reimagined in thread.
