Bring a little sunshine to your Heritage Quilt Society collection with our beautiful Sunflower Quilt Stamp.
Sunflowers have inspired quiltmakers for generations, and sunflower-style quilt blocks can be traced back to the 19th century. Variations appeared under several names, including Sunflower, Sunburst and Indian Summer. The Smithsonian even has a quilt made around 1850–1880 whose design was known in its family as a star pattern, but could equally be described as a 14-point star, sunburst or sunflower.
Quilt historian Barbara Brackman notes that sunflower variations date back to the 1830s, with quiltmakers creating many different interpretations of the flower over the decades.
Our embroidered interpretation brings that cheerful flower into your collection with warm golden petals, a rich brown centre and traditional patchwork-inspired framing.
A little sunshine, preserved in thread — and another piece of quilt history for your collection.
