SDS3334 Avant-Garde QuiltAlong Block 10

In the arts and literature, the term avant-garde (from French meaning 'advance guard' or 'vanguard') identifies an experimental genre or work of art, and that's exactly what this Quilt Along is about.

We've eliminated Satin stitching, optimized stitch time and thread use! It doesn't get better than this folks!  

Included in this set you'll get this stunning block in 4 sizes:

• 5x5"
• 6x6"
• 10x10"
• 12x12"

These sizes is specifically chosen as they can be combined to create two groups. Just like with our Talavera Range. 5" and 10" blocks can be combined to create a quilt with two different size circles, and the same goes for the remaining 6" and 12" blocks.

Fabric Requirements:

• Fabric scraps of your choice, off course if you make a big quilt, you will need to work out how much fabric each block uses from your bolt, I used mostly jelly roll scraps I have in a bin, as these are all small pieces.
• Batting (optional but gives the quilting nice dimension)
• Base Fabric 2inch larger than your block x 4 if you make a square, ie, if you stitch the 9.2” then cut your base (white) fabric 11.2” square.
• Applique iron on (Hot meld mesh or Heat and Bond)
• Organza, Tulle or any other see through fabric of your choice same size as your white fabric.
• Back fabric and binding and fabric for border optional, depending on what project you will be making. You can make these as quilt as you go blocks as well.

There are 2 methods (both included in your files)

For all methods, before cutting our your shapes, iron the heat and bond / applique bond to the back of your fabric, this makes cutting out also so much easier and prevent the fabric from fraying.

1. Method one we will pre-cut our pieces. (SVG files are included)
2. Method two we will cut in the hoop like you normally do applique.

Be sure to use the correct files especially if you intend cutting in the hoop so you have the tack-down steps.
